UPP

Item just listed buyer requests immediate purchase and states will deposit money into paypal account. Email from paypal saying buyer is using UPP and funds will be released upon proof of despatch with tracking number. I have never used this but am dubious about posting something to Nigeria without cleared funds in my account. Anyone else used this can tell me whether or not its legit? Appreciate buyer needs protection too but I don't feel protected sending something out without cleared funds.

Hi jamiep117,
Welcome to the community forum and thanks for posting. Any time you receive an email about activity on your PayPal account, the safest way to confirm the emails’ validity is to log in to your PayPal account via the PayPal website (not using the links in the email received). Any of the activity reported in the email will be available to view. When you receive a payment, you’ll see the money in your account right away. Even if it was placed in your pending balance, you’ll see this. We want you to have complete visibility of your money. We won’t ask you to use a 3rd party such as Western Union, MoneyGram or any other payment processor. Please forward any suspicious emails or websites to spoof@paypal.co.uk .

I have had this same issue. Someone has said they will send me payment however I received an email from "paypal" which was found in my JUNK folder saying the money is in a secure vault in which will appear in my account after I send off a tracking number. It does seem devious as the deal is no longer on eBay so there is no protection and if I was to send the item off and the paypal email was fake I would have no cover at all, Ive told him I want the funds before I sent the item off. HELP?
