Paypal safe? New user (other than with ebay)

Hi all,

Please can I have your take on this. I am in the process of buying an item for £250 off a website forum and as i've only really payed via Paypal with ebay so I'm not sure if it's ok.

We have exchanged a few messages with this one being the latest.

Hi mate, parcel has been sent, I will send tracking number in a few hours. Could you please send the £250 to paypal address xxxxxx
 

Thoughts? that was sent this morning and as yet I havent had a tracking number or anything.

Am I covered if I send payment to his email address??

Very odd, in my opinion a seller NEVER sends an item before the buyer has paid.

You are covered by buyer protection but that has limitations.

eg you are covered for non receipt but what if he sends you an empty box????

I would be very wary especially sending that amount of money.

However if you receive it and all is ok then of course pay him.
