Paypal credit wasnt used

Hi everyone,

About an hour ago I signed up for paypal credit, and was allowed up to £1,200. I then proceeded to buy a $300 item off ebay, and selected paypal credit as my method of payment. It asked me to log in, then confirm my order. But instead of using my credit it has gone and taken the money straight from my bank account. Can anyone tell me why this has happened, and how I can fix this please?

Oh no! The PayPal Credit option will not always be presented at the checkout but if your funding source changed after you completed that transaction, this is something we would really need to investigate on our side. 

Would you consider contacting us by phone or through one of our other social media channels so we can pull up your account details and take it from there?

It might also be worthwhile speaking with that merchant and asking them to refund the payment. I'm afraid we're unable to alter the funding source once a payment has been made and that's why a refund might be the best solution for both parties here.

Could you please explain why is this? How is it determined when will paypal credit be available? This really should be more transparent.

I am asking because I signed up for paypal credit with the intention to use that 4 months 0% interest free period when a suitable purchase surfaces... but now after a couple of months having paypal credit available when finally a suitable purchase is here the option to use paypal credit is not there.

This looks to me like paypal just lured me to sign up for another credit card promising some nice advatages, but when I want to use them the option to pay with it suddenly dissapear.

If you find this is happening on a regular basis or for unique purchases though, it might be best to call our Credit Specialists directly on 08003687155 for further advice. Our experts should be able to explain in more detail why the use of PayPal Credit is being disallowed
