Funding Sources after credit limit reached

First time post so please be nice

I want to buy something that is over my paypal credit limit, will paypal automatically use my card/bank to supplement the credit or do I need to add money to my balance first?

I found out myself that you can not use paypal credit with any other funding source like balance, card or bank
