Claiming back VAT on Paypal Payments

Hi,

I am the buyer for a small construction firm and occasionally use ebay to purchase goods. With all other suppliers we would get in invoice and use this to claim the VAT back. Is it possible to do this with ebay purchases paid via Paypal?

Looking at the transation details in paypal the VAT is normally shown as £0 or not mentioned so I'm wondering if this is possible or not.

Can anyone offer some help with this please?

Many Thanks

James

Hi Stratacg,

Welcome to the PayPal community forum.

Most seller's on eBay do not charge VAT which is why you may see it showing as 0.00. If you are buying from a company that are charging you VAT then you could ask them to send you a paper invoice and see if you can claim it back that way. Through PayPal you can not claim for VAT back.

I hope this helps answer your question.
