Variable postage costs for the same service

I just finished buying a printing postage labels for two of the same item. Both were 2 ounces and both were shipped in 6 x 9 envelopes. I was charged $2.96 for one and $3.09 for the other. This has happened before. Anyone had this happened before and if so is there an answer to this seemingly illogical pattern of charging?

If the service level you paid for is First-Class Package Service®, the rates go by zone now, not flat rate no more.

Use this page to get your zone map by entering your zip code. Every time you ship, look up the first 3 digits of the customer's zip code to get the correct zone:

Then look up the postage rate according to zone:

Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂
