PayPal button not working on Wordpress site

Hello

I am trying to add a functioning PayPal button to my website but am having no luck.  I have copy and pasted the code into my website editor, and I can see the button on my website, but nothing happens when I click it.  Hovering over it also shows no website link in the lower left corner.  I should mention I am at the lowest beginner level when it comes to WordPress and designing websites in general, so I'm hoping this is a simple question for someone.

My website was designed with WordPress Twenty Seventeen, if that helps at all.

Any suggestions are appreciated.
