Invoice "Pending"

In the past three days I have sent three invoices that are listed as "Pending."  What does that mean?  Did they not get sent?

If the status of your invoice is pending, this means that the invoice has been sent but has not been paid. You may pay, edit, send a reminder, or cancel the request.
