Why cant I use BillMeLater everytime I use paypal?

I changed my preferred payment to bill me later but I never know when BillMeLater will be used.  It seems really random.  It seems that I'm rarely able to use it and I have a pretty good limit.  Any ideas?

I found out when in eBay, if you checkout with multiple sellers at once, BIll Me Later option disappears in PayPal, why is that? I thought there were some sellers that doesn't accept BML, so I checkout one by one and all went through BML fine when paying them individually. Why can't BML checkout multiple sellers at once? It was able to do that until a recent change in the way Paypal works. This is really annoying.

Okay... Let's ask this question in as plain English as possible:

How can I confirm that BillMeLater will be available as a payment option BEFORE bidding in an auction?

I see no indication anywhere before confirming a purchase as to payment options beyond "PayPal Preferred".

Why is this not a blanket option that includes all purchases that can normally be paid through PayPal?

How is BillMeLater separate from PayPal in that it is not globally accepted where PayPal is a payment option?

It seems to me that a little "BillMeLater" icon on eligible transactions would solve a lot of problems.

I'm planning on doing a fair amount of purchasing on eBay today... but if I can't confirm my payment options before committing to buy... I just won't buy.

I'm trying to help my father, who is haveing the same trouble with the BML as a payment option.  He has won some auctions from ebay and is now trying to figure out how to pay for them... BML not an option for all transactions.  I searched on ebay to find an item that shows the "Bill Me Later" logo (found under the price, time left, ect., on the item description).  I found several and had him search for those specific items on ebay.  While on the phone with him, we were both looking at the exact same item descriptions.  I could see the "Bill Me Later" logo but he could not.  Now... Why would that be?  On all the items I could see the "Bill Me Later" logo, he was unable to see the logo.  (It was located just above the "Bucks" logo.)  Lets just say that he is "furious"!!!

Hey All, sorry that we haven't been here to respond in a timely manner.  I'm hoping to try and answer as many questions as possible in this post.

1st: To link BML when using it for the first time: You need to be logged into your PayPal account first. When you complete the payment, you do it while you are logged into PayPal. This is how the two are supposed to be linked.

If you have an existing BML account you actually shouldn't be able to link the two; the functionality doesn't exist.  I've heard reports of it working though, so that seems like every once in awhile one gets through 🙂

I would also encourage you to go to BML's site and create a username and password there; after that it should be available in your PayPal profile.

2: As far as being able to use BML for every purchase or for purchases where you can use PayPal but not BML.  They were primarily marketed to medium to large businesses; now smaller merchants can request to accept BML, but not all have yet chosen to do so.  If you have a merchant you want to use BML at and the option isn’t available, have them contact us and we’ll get 'em set up!

I understand you are all passionate about this subject. We do take your feedback seriously and I truly hope we can work all these wrinkles out to your satisfaction.

I have had a BillMeLater username and password ever since I got BillMeLater (that's how I pay my bill), and nothing about BillMeLater shows up under my PayPal account or in my profile.  The bottom line is, if there is no way to link my two accounts, and BillMeLater does not show up as a payment option in PayPal, then we were lied to by BillMeLater, who have stated from the start that my BillMeLater account info should show on my PayPal account page and I should be able to pay my BML bill from there.  I have tried everything that has been suggested to get these two accounts linked together, and to have BillMeLater as a payment option under PayPal, and nothing works.

I agree with you guys. This needs to be fixed. What I really hate is when you bid on an item that clearly states you can pay with billmelater and then after you win you get some crap about "Unable to complete request. Please choose another way to pay." I don't want to pay another way. I may not have the money right now. I bid with good faith that I could use billmelater. Another gripe, just try to get someone to respond back to an email at billmelater. I think it's run from some mafia guy's garage. I have sent repeated questions and have never gotten a single reply.

Recently I was suppose to get a refund. They guy sent it to paypal but since I paid with billmelater they say it was sent to billmelater. Nobody seems to be able to tell me where my money is and the only time I ever hear anything from billmelater is when my bill is due. This is very poor business practice and if you guys can't get better than this you won't be around long.
