I just bought an item on ebay and it automatically linked to my paypal account. So my question is does it get charged directly to my credit card or do i have to pay it off through paypal? im confused

When you proceed to the checkout it and confirm payment it will be charged to your CC automatically.

No, not if you have money in your PayPal account. If you don't, then yes it will be charged to your CC or your payment method of choice.
