Adding a bank account...

When I try to add a bank account I receive the following message:

"That bank account is already assigned to another PayPal account. For security purposes, each bank account may only be assigned to one PayPal account. Please use a different bank account."

But to my knowledge, my bank account isn't assigned to another Paypal account. How do I go about correcting this so I can add my account?

whether you are an existing paypal member or a new member you don't need to open a regular bank account or have a regular credit card...............if you go to NETSPEND.COM you can open a new account. it is a pre-paid credit card you can hook to paypal. as soon as you enter your info you have an immediate account set up and they will mail you the card within a few days. while waiting for the card, you have immediate access to your new account. on your NETSPEND account page, if you click on "ADD/MANAGE MONEY", and then click the option at the bottom that says "PAYPAL TRANSFERS". it will bring up the information to "ADD A BANK ACCOUNT" to your paypal account which includes the ROUTING NUMBER/ACCOUNT NUMBER. once you enter it into your paypal account it will say that paypal will make 2 small deposits within 48 hours. you can get those 2 deposit numbers right online at NETSPEND.COM when you sign into your account. then you enter those 2 small deposits into your paypal and now you have a verified paypal account. plus, as soon as your card arrives you can now take your paypal funds and "transfer to bank account", which takes 3-4 days and then it is available on your NETSPEND DEBIT CARD. when you recieve the actual card, you can also use it to list as a "credit card" for paypal. yes you can use the same card/account for both your "bank account" and "credit card" needed for paypal and ebay. it is a real life-saver especially while you wait to become eligible for your "paypal debit card". i know that there are ALOT of people that don't have credit cards or bank accounts due to credit issues or whatever, and this really works. hope thats not too confusing.

How many days for your 2 small pp deposits to show up.  It's been 5 days for me (both on mine and my hubbies accounts), and nothing yet.

Also you should make a new post with the Netspend option.  A lot of people like us don't have 2nd bank accounts to start a second account so would love to know about it this.

Same problem here now too. Trying to setup a new bank account and it says it's in use. If it's in use, then the bank(s) re-used the acct number from another person because my account is NEW. They should purge the info or learn how to double check properly.

I've been with paypal almost since the beginning - and I've moved a decent amount of money through my account over the years on ebay and other sites, but with their non-existent support lately, and a flaw this big and stupid, I'm thinking about just moving on...

Seems that a lot of people are dealing with this issue but this is something I was able to resolve with a 5 minute phone call to customer service. 4 of those 5 minutes were spent on hold.

By the way, NetSpend is a total scam.

ShrugLife, what number did you use to call? I'm having the same issue and I don't recall ever using my bank account on PayPal before. I'd like to have this fixed.
