Dear PayPal,
I am with-holding your money for 21 days or until you receive positive feedback, which judging from the internet and forums here, is not going to happen any time soon. I believe you to be an untrustworthy company and as such, I have blocked all your transactions from my main bank account.
They have also refunded money you attempted to take today, even though you have money of mine locked in my PayPal.
When you decide to do the honest thing and release my funds, I will think about releasing yours.
I will have no further involvement with paypal or ebay.
Many thanks.

I understand that at first they hold your money until they know you are sending out the products etc you are selling. but this has happened to me again? i have been buying and selling small amounts as a personal customer with all positive feedback (less than £50 per month buying stuff i needand selling stuff i dont). Then randomly they put another block on one transaction for around £20??? claiming the same that it was to make sure i was sending stuff out. Seems it is just to make interest and no one can tell me otherwise. And to top it all to make a complaint it takes 4 weeks, then maybe 4 more and no more than 12 weeks to investigate??? Therefore it takes longer to complain than it does to wait the 21 days to get your money!!!!!
CON and they get away with it because big business always do.

Thanks so much for this information, I do not mind now, I was just freaking out because my account was doing the same thing, For me I will continue to use pay pal and ebay. I was just freaked out that I sent out a package to a buyer and would not recieve my money but from what you have said it is normal and the funds will be forwarded to me.

Bit worried re your post.
Even if you are subject to the PayPal new seller hold the funds would be showing in your balance but on hold / pending.
Do not send if nothing is showing at all as lots of scammers about.

My question is this. If you withhold payment for 21 days for something I buy and pay for via Pay Pal are you going to pay the person I purchase off their payment plus interest? If not I think it's disgusting, because the person I'm purchasing off may have to use their own money to purchase materials prior to delivering the goods that I the customer have ordered this is especially important where I the customer have the ability to purchase the materials myself . My supplier may have the possibility to buy the materials necessary at a better price than I can find myself?
This is what may happen." I purchase an item that is bespoke so I pay via PayPal. My supplier knows I've paid but due to PayPal withholding the paymentfor 21 days my supplier is unable to complete my order as they need the payment to clear as they have to order materials specifically for my order. Are you PayPay going to compensate me for the delay in my order? Or compensate my supplier for the delay in their payment?"
@kernowlass wrote:Bit silly for something that every ebay seller has been through.
I went through the hold same as every new seller and didn't mind as i understood why.
Also you rarely have to wait 21 days as if the buyer leaves feedback or tracking shows delivery then you get the payment sooner.
Its for buyer protection > if a seller refuses to refund a buyer for an item not received and paypal can't access funds in the sellers account then they refund the buyer themselves.
So to protect themselves and still be able to offer buyer protection they hang on to the funds of new sellers until they have a record of good performance.
Same as a bank will hold onto a "guarantee" sometimes for a loan.
And to be fair without buyer protection its doubtful we would sell our stuff in the first place as i for one as a buyer would not send money to a stranger without buyer protection.
Finally to be fair again the money is not ours until the buyer has received their item and is happy with it.

i don't hold any money. I don't work for PayPal.
I am an eBay seller that helps on here.
If you help for a while you become an adviser but there is no training and i have nothing to do with PayPal.
As I said I am a seller and have been through the hold myself.
If a seller sends trsckable then they rarely wait more than a week.
Also it doesn't last for long, once a seller has a few sales done the 21 day hold stops.
I went through it and did not really mind as it's for buyer protection with new sellers and as we need buyers i understood.
When a seller no longer has the hold they actually get credited in advance when a buyer pays, and PayPal take the wait for the buyers funds to transfer to PayPal.
Thats why we get confused buyers on here wondering why the seller has despatched their item when the funds have not left their bank account yet.
PayPal do this so you get your item more quickly with no interest charged for the immediate payment.

well kernowlass..at a guess I would say that you're affiliated or work for Paypal or eBay judging by the content of your messages here.
It's nothing to do with what eBAY AND Paypal call "buyer protection".
I have several business and ebay / paypal accounts. This is all about Paypal and eBay making more money by creating this fluffy "everything is fine, no problems, no hassle" environment which is in itself a complete con. I see that Ebay are now comparing shopping on their site to shopping on the high street! What a joke! There are still plenty of scammers selling on eBay who know all the dodges and can sell off their faulty and sub standard ware....when the buyer discovers many months later that there's a problem..tough. Try using your "buyer protection" badge there. I can walk into a shop within a year of purchasing a product and have it repaired or refunded in some cases..hassle free!
Holding onto your cash for such a period of time is absolutely ridiculous! It serves eBays and Paypal's purpose at no extra hassle for them and of course they're making interest on our money every day...
I'm only just scratching the surface here...sorry about the grammar/spelling mistakes etc..but I needed to rant and I have a business to run so just wanted to get my point across!

Yeah, yeah if i disagree with you i must work for paypal or ebay mustn't i? LOL
NO I DO NOT. I am an ebay seller that helps out on here.
How many folks have you saved from being scammed?? Oh thats right a big fat zero.
Yes it is to do with BUYER PROTECTION because if an item is lost in the post and the seller refuses to refund then paypal does the refund under buyer protection.................... so for new sellers they hold the payments until they have proved they are good sellers.
Buyer protection is limited but heck of a lot better than paying cash or western union or postal orders or cheques. And a lot quicker as well. And you STILL have the right to chargeback via a c.c. or debit card.
As for walking into a shop that defeats the purpose of ONLINE SHOPPING DOESN'T IT.
Feel free to rant........sounds as if you are not to keen on looking after your buyers.

Don't make yourself look silly.
Just because I don't agree with you does not mean I work for paypal.
If you look at the board the moderators are paid by paypal.
I am an ebay seller that helps here and am in no way affiliated with paypal.
But if you want to keep posting lies then feel free and I shall copy and paste and keep all records for a libel claim.
I have just returned from work........and it was not at paypal.
Also if you don't understand that paypal as a business hold payments so they can continue to reduce risk to themselves from having to refund buyers when new sellers disappear and have no funds in their paypal account that paypal can access then you are even more silly than you have already proved.
And you can't even work out that kernow....LASS is female,......
Finally don't listen to my posts? Really? Strange nearly a 1000 people have marked my posts as having solved their problems and taken the time to give me the kudos..........so i think folks will certainly listen to my posts.
Oh and how many folks have you saved from being scammed by VOLUNTARILY giving up time to help out??
Oh thats right a big fat ZERO.
