Paypal won't let me change to my main email

The email that I have linked to the account has my personal name in it, and I would rather that they not know my personal name when paying me. However it won't let me change to my other email and this message keeps popping up:

 

We’re sorry. You can’t claim the money with this account because it's already linked with another user. Try asking your sender to send to a different email address if you have one.

 

This doesn't make any sense since that is MY email, no one else can be using it for PayPal. 

 

Also, is there a way for me to hide the name of my account to people paying me? I can't just change my name because it keeps telling me it has to be the one on my card. But I don't want people knowing my name. This website is just horrible for anonymity.

Have you added / verified and then marked the other email as primary?

 

As for your name then buyers will see it unless you open a business account and choose a business name instead.
