IBAN not accepted

Everytime I try to add my bank account to my paypal and I introduce the IBAN it says "Invalid IBAN", even though it's the correct one. I've reached out to support and the only answer I got was an automated response that told me to introduce my country, first and last name and bank information, yet when I try to introduce the IBAN, PayPal never asks me for that, only the number. Any help?

Are you adding your own countries bank account to your own countries paypal account?

What do you mean by that? When I click on "Add a bank account" on PayPal's mainpage it only asks me for my IBAN, nothing else. When I introduce the number it says it's invalid but at the bottom it says Portugal (my country).
