withdrawl pending?

i've never really used my paypal account at all and now i am trying to withdarw funds from my paypal account and it says pending as status what do all these stauses mean?

I'm sorry you won't be able to respond directly to this post - we've made some improvements to the PayPal Community Help Forums, and as part of the upgrade, all existing posts were Archived and locked. The new boards and the new Community is accessible here.

A status of "pending" on a withdrawal just means that PayPal hasn't yet had the opportunity to slip the withdrawal out into the banking system.  Once it switches to "completed," PayPal will have sent the withdrawal to your bank.  All told, the entire withdrawal process can take 3-5 business days to complete (weekends/holidays don't count).
