I need help trying to find my refund

I purchased a product with pay pal from bank account.

I returned the product at the merchant direct. I was assured that PAYPAL was where the refund would go.

I got an email indicating the REFUND was sent to Paypal..

when I open my Account there is nothing there..  $0 FUNDS..

when I search the Transaction I see a hold was placed..but nothing indicating how long..I see nothing indicating or contact from PAYPAL that a HOLD WAS PLACED....

I phoned help center and in fact it says I WAS REFUNDED.. but I have not seen nothing yet..

WHO CAN I CALL TO FIND OUT WHERE IS MY REFUND? WHY IS IT NOW NOTED AS A "OPEN CASE" or PENDING TRANSACTION?

What was the time frame from paying with PayPal till you got refunded? If you return a product, and the seller refunds you before the payment clears you won't see any refund till your bank clears it.
