seller seeking refund for lost item in mail

I gave the buyer a refund for an item that was lost in the mail.  He received the envelope but the contents were missing.  How do I get a refund from the post office.  I purchased shipping through Paypal.

Contact the courier / shipping-postal company you used and if you sent trackable they should show you how to file a claim.
