possible email scam looking like paypal

i received an email looking like from paypal saying I had a charge for a hotel in another state thru "airbnb". I clicked on anything within email it either took me to something I wasn't familiar with or a sign in to paypal, scared I closed it and went to paypal.com and signed in to not find said charges or messages about fraud. is this a scam?

Most likely phishing:

* Forward the entire email to:    spoof@paypal.com.
* Do not alter the subject line or forward the message as an attachment.
* Delete the suspicious email from your inbox.
* Never click on any links within the email or open any attachments.
