i just found out today that my roomate used my paypal credit account to buy stuff on a porn game site, but i thought paypal didnt allow purchasing of adult content?

the billing provider is listed as 'EPOCH MGBILLINGU' for the adult game site nutaku.net

am i stuck paying for it since he used my computer for it, and i have no real way to prove its not me? (he moved out a week ago, and i found out about the charges today when a detective knocked on my door looking for him for a credit card fraud investigation, and reccomended i check all my accounts)

So you authorized another person to have access to your computer and your PayPal account.

Now it costs.

In future make sure your devices and your accounts are secure and under only your own control.

i wasnt aware that he had used my laptop, but yes  it was my own mistake for having my paypal login stored in chrome.

if i have to pay for it i will, and will have to file a small claims lawsuit against him to get my money back (assuming he is going to be arrested thats a slim chance)

my main question though is, isn't porn/adult content against the AUP? do i have any recourse or ability to 'charge back' the transactions? the only evedence i have really is the phone # of the detective that came by (he told me to contact him if my ex roommate showed up or i found anything on my accounts) and the transaction lists in paypal credit itself

Got to thinking again.  First I just ovrelooked the porn issue.  On a re-think it might be extremely serious.  You would need to look at the policies carefully (Legal Agreements, below), but you don't know the details.  If that particular transaction causes a problem, then your account will be closed or limited.

So, just hope that transaction isn't flagged as it will be against your account.

yea, at the moment thats my biggest concern, ive had my account in good standing (both paypal and paypal credit (previously billmelater) for a very long time, close to 8 years, and always in good standing, never had a chargeback or dispute.

honestly i rarely use it anymore, which is why i didnt immediately see the transactions (im assuming my rommate deleted the confirmation emails so i wouldnt see them) but getting it locked or closed over an AUP violation will ruin the perfect history ive built up.

i plan to call paypall as soon as their customer service opens and see what my options are

I don't know if alerting them to a potential porn issue or just waiting and hoping is better.

Either way, wishing you the best outcome for preserving a good record and credit score.

All accounts get checked at least weekly and no passwords store on with browsers no on cloud.
