I understand the resaon to hold up me receiving the payment. What protects me from the buyer getting the items and creating a lengthly dispute to scam me.?

Buyer can always open a dispute.

You have limited seller protection for certain types of disputes, but no guarantees to be problem-free.

Clcik on Legal at the bottom of the page and then User Agreement.  Make sure your thoroughly understand buyer and seller protections.
