How to remove 2-step phone verification from my paypal account?

I'm not worried bout the lessened security of not having 2-step and I am just tired of having to have my phone with me whenever I want to use paypal.

I cannot find anywhere in account settings or security to do this.

Looks like an error to me. In the security panel they state you could disable it but the option simply isnt there! I hate it to wait for a SMS message and enter it every time just to check my account. I wish i had never turned this feature on. They should consider to optionally disable it for mobile apps with fingerprint sensors…

I've succeeded to disable 2-Factor-Authentication!

You have to use the old interface of PayPal.

  1. Log in
  2. Enter https://www.paypal.com/webapps/customerprofile/summary.view
  3. Goto Security Token Settings (https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/customerprofileweb?cmd=_security-token)
  4. select your phonenumber and then disable it
  5. cheers!

I was having exactly the same problem, finding it ever increasingly annoying. As before stated, why not add the disable function for devices with fingerprint or even for trusted devices. Anyway, I also had the login loop issue but managed to overcome it by doing the following: 1. Open a new tab/page. 2. Enter https://www.paypal.com/webapps/customerprofile/summary.view - yep, you need text message verification. 3. On the same tab/page, paste the Security Token Settings link (https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/customerprofileweb?cmd=_security-token) over the current weblink and hit enter. This took me to the page where I could disable the phone number being used for the verification. 👍🏻

Thank you, I spent the last 2 hours trying to figuire this out. In fustration I even called customer service and the rep I spoke to while pleasant and helpful was unable to tell me what to do to resolve the issue. I just emailed customer service back and let them know that this is what resolved the issue for me. Kudos to you for posting this!!!

Thank you so much. This "feature" was starting to drive me nuts! Finding out to turn it off, even more so.

Clicking the second link in your instructions did the trick. Problem solved. Thanks.
