Help! Think I have a scammer on the line

Selling a high value item (Surface Pro) through our local classifieds. First hit (within an hour of posting): 1) only communicates by text, 2) offers to overpay by 20%, 3) proposes to use Western Union despite me saying that PayPal and cash are the only options, 4) very poor grammer and spelling. So I write back that cash and PayPal are the only options and they reply that Paypal is OK. Now all of my alarms are going off but how protected am I on Paypal? This is about $450. I imagine that I send the computer to NJ after seeing the money post and then the funds get locked because either the credit card used is reported stolen or someone else's PP account is fraudulantly used.

I'd really like to walk away but also not sure how to do that "nicely".

Any thoughts out there?
