Any advice. My 18 year old son thought he purchased a phone from someone. The phone arrived, but it was locked.  The seller responded at first, claiming that TMobile should have cleared it, yadda, yadda. Phone is still unusable and the seller has stopped responding. We cannot open a dispute, as he sent the seller money and no merchandise was listed as being exchanged I guess. Anyone else have this happen? Any advice?  I was trying to let him handle it on his own, but it's alot of money and I'm angry someone  pulled this.

This should be a good early learning lesson for your son on what not to do.  The world of internet buying and selling is a dangerous place for the uneducated.

First, he should be tested on an understanding of PayPal terms of use.

Second, he should never buy a used phone and pay with PayPal.

Third, he needs to take responsibility for his own actions and his own money.
