Chip readers can work with Samsung Galaxy S8 as follows
1. Before opening PayPal here turn your readers until you see the blue tooth light on
2. On your Galaxy S8 turn the blue tooth on to scan nearby devices.
3. Press for 30 seconds the SYNC bottom on your readers, this important >> you will see the blue tooth light blinking quickly.
4. Galaxy should find your readers so select the readers device found on your galaxy for pairing.
5. Now open PayPal here app and on the menu bar connect to your readers.
6. It may ask you for app update
