PayPal Here won't connect to my Sony Xperia XZ

I Have just received my PayPal Here Card Reader and I am trying to set it up with my PayPal account and my Sony Xperia XZ mobile phone.
I have followed all the recommended guides, but the phone will still not connect to my PayPal Here account?
I have done all the recommended troubleshooting guides online, as well as factory resets, re-sync the phone and PayPal Here device, restart the phone etc. everything listed, but my phone will still not connect to my PayPal Here account?
The phone does seem paired to the PayPal Here device in my settings, but whjen the PayPal Here device asks me to connect to my PayPal Here account, it says connection failed - constantly...
This is not very good!

Did you uninstall the PayPal Here app and then download a new version?
Which version of PayPal Here app?
You mention that your settings show the bluetooth reader IS connected. Is that correct?
When you start the PayPal Here app on your phone does your login work correctly?
When logged in to your PayPal Here app does it work without attempting to connect to the reader?
You need to explains the very spefic steps you are taking and the results at each step
You can also phone PayPal support ant ask for a PayPal Here specialist; the do know their stuff.

You mention that your settings show the bluetooth reader IS connected. Is that correct? My phone detects the Card Reader and it is shown in the list on my phone

When I log into the PayPal Here app it shows the connecting to the reader box, then a failure if the reader is turned off. At times Ineed to press the blue button on the top edge to activate the blue tooth visibility.
Next step: phone PayPal support and ask to talk to a PayPal Here specialist. They are likely to guide you through the steps to reset the reader and update the firmware. Make sure your reader is fully charged or plugged in for this. Their technical people are really good at resolving problems. I went through this once for something. I've also gone through forced updates on the reader.

I have just got of the phone to PayPal tech support, and they say that this is not the first issue like this today, with the same errors / problems I am getting...
They have now passed this onto their tech support gurus to look into, and will get back to me in due course.

I guess they figured a unit reset wouldn't solve the problem.
You can also go to PayPal.com/MTS (Merchant Technical Support) and look for help. If you set up an account there you also post your issue so it gets a proper number and follow-up. I've used that service for another PayPal Here app issue.
