Hi everyone!

 

While the general release of this product has not yet begun, this thread is here for questions about the product. If you're in the initial limited release and have experience with the card reader, please feel free to ask or answer questions in this thread. If you have questions about how PayPal Here works, please feel free to post them here too.

I am having issues with the reader. Frustrating. I tried emailing PayPal and they were SUPER helpful! They told me they couldn't help me with that. So, I'm left wondering what to do with this useless reader...Anyone having issues with it?? If I could get a new one that would be fantastic PayPal, Thanks!

I'm having issues as well! I received the card reader a few weeks ago, but have been unable to use it. Everytime I try to charge to a card I get this error message "User is not allowed to perform this action". How can this be corrected? Thanks

Hi Lucipina,

 

If you've got a few minutes, please go into the app and shake to get the Help screen. Call that number and a representative can get your problem fixed up for you very quickly.

As previously requested, we have published the list of compatible android devices. This is by no means a final list and we will continue to work on adding more devices in the future.

 

What Android devices are compatible with PayPal Here?

Welcome! 🙂

It sounds like the reader you received is defective. If you're using an android device, I also recommend checking the compatibility list I posted above.  To get a new device, you'll need to contact Customer Support by phone. We have a dedicated support line for PayPal Here so just shake your phone to display the contact info. Alternatively you can contact Customer Support and request to speak with a Product and Site Support Specialists and they'll order a new device for you.

Hello. I just recieved an email that said I was ready to apply for the card reader. However it was sent to a different e-mail address than the one on my PayPal account so I can't login to the app. Is there any way I can have that e-mail sent to the correct address?

Welcome to the forum!

 

The email invitations to participate in the exclusive release are sent to the address used on the waitlist. If you'd like to apply with a different account from the one you indicated on the waitlist, you'll be able to do that after the general release. It's coming very soon! 🙂

What if I just apply for the wait list again with my correct email address? Is there a chance I will get selected more quickly than the general release?

You can definitely add your new address. I don't think will be much (if any) advance benefit at this point since the general release is coming so soon, but it certainly couldn't hurt! 🙂

Well I was very excited to receive my card reader today and I happily installed the PayPal Here App. 

It brings up an error every time I log in, however, to say I have an Incorrect Password or PIN. 

 

I have checked with PayPal and they confirm that my account is active and ready to use for PayPal Here.  I can see restrictions have been placed on the account for that purpose as well, so I feel satisfied that it is connected. 

 

I have tested my login information through the regular paypal app and the website and have no trouble logging in.  

I have tried using my mobile number, which is also associated with the account to try logging in (which works on the website and on the regular PalPal app) and that also doesn't work. 

 

I have tried uninstalling the app, rebooting the phone, and reinstalling that app, also doesn't make any difference.  I have tried removing the regular PayPal app and going through the above process, but that also doesn't work. 

 

I am in contact with technical support, but they too have only said that I need to associate my mobile number with the app, which I have.  Everything in my account appears correct. 

 

The other interesting thing is that I am able to use my iPad with the PayPal here app, and it works fine.  I've even been able to process as test transaction through it, but my iPhone so far does not work - and that's the one I really need.  

 

If anyone has similar issues, or has a resolution or even just another idea about what I might try differently, I'm all ears.  The only thing I'm not willing to do at this stage is whipe my phone and resintall.  The time involved and potential to need to spend hours and hours setting things back up again doesnt seem work it unless I know that it must happen as it is the only way to resolve the issue.
