Paypal Payment Pro Recurring Payments

I understand that recurring payments can be setup for subscriptions at a fixed monthly rate, but what if the fee for the service varies from month to month?  Can this still be handled with rucurring payments?

According to: https://developer.paypal.com/docs/classic/payflow/recurring-billing/ it seems like the recurring billing amount can be modified but you can check with developer support here: https://developer.paypal.com/support/
