Hi there,
If I am sending a monetary gift through Paypal to a family member or friend, can they see the source of payment I sent (i.e. Bank account, credit card)? What exactly do they see when they receive the payment? Please help! Thanks.

The will see both your email address and name. They will not see nor know anything about the funding source you used. (The receiver gets an email notification that someone has sent them some money. Then they can login to their account to see the funds.)
