Scam company wants direct payment

I'm dealing with a foreign company that accepts PayPal but only for transactions over $8000. Below that amount they want funds wired directly to their bank account.  Is there any way to check up on this company?  I don't think the PayPal fee would be all that much.  Seems like a scam.

All you can do is search the web for additional info and decide from there - as PayPal does not share user or merchant info.
