How should I make sure I get paid from PayPal after selling an item on ebay where the buyer did a local pickup.  Unfortuantely, I had allowed the buyer to pay through PayPal.

The buyer did make the payment to PayPal.

I had marked the listing as shipped but could not provide a tracking number.

Please advice!!!!!!!!!!!

Since you cannot provide online tracking to show delivered, buyer will file a claim for non delivery and get a refund.  You will have no money and the item will be gone.

You should have made this a cash deal.  Experienced PayPal buyers know how to get free stuff when inexperienced sellers offer items for pickup.

Well, you can hope.

You could mail the buyer a paper receipt and send it with paid tracking to the buyer's address.  As soon as you get it in the mail, add the tracking number to the PayPal transaction record.  I might help, but buyer could still find an angle to dispute.  You need to do it before buyer files a dispute.  Local buyers have been found to file a non-delivery dispute as soon as driving away.

Is there anything at all I can do at this point since the item was picked up today? I am hoping it was an honest buyer.

I will mail the buyer a paper receipt with paid tracking tomorrow. Thank you for this advice. I learned a big lesson today. I sold a rowing machine for 699.00 and I sure hope I didn't just give it away. Of course eBay will take their fees regardless of what happens. Thank you again for your feedback and advice.

Buyer could win the not as described since it would be obvious that the heavy item sold would not fit in an envelope.

Astute buyers will find multiple angles to get a refund for local pickup.

To update you, the buyer left me a very nice feedback saying 'the erg was in perfect condition'. So I'm Keeping my fingers crossed that PayPal will pay me. probably, as suggested, it's best to get a real tracking number (from mailing a receipt) and enter it on the listing. This may avoid any PayPal delay or no pay.
