Recall friends and family payment

I lost a bet and sent my friend $20 but my (removed) self sent the money to the wrong email. It says the payment is 'sent-pending'. Is there a way I can recall this payment?

Hi patsykwast,

If the payment is showing as completed, you won't be able to cancel the transaction.  However, you can still ask the seller for a refund as long as you do it within 180 days of making your payment.

Here’s how to find a seller’s name, email address, and customer service phone number, if available:

1. Log in to your PayPal account.
2. Click Activity.
3. Click the transaction.

Here’s how sellers can issue a refund:

1. Click Activity.
2. Click the transaction.
3. Click Issue a refund.
4. Enter the refund amount, and then click Continue.
5. Review the details, and then click Issue Refund.

Hey Randy! The payment was a Friends and Family payment, not to a merchant.

patsykwast - if the payment is showing as Unclaimed, call PayPal and see if they can reverse it.

If it shows as Completed, then the email belongs to someone and you will need to request they return the funds.
