Pending Transaction

I am new to Paypal and sold an item on the weekend to someone in New Jersey. I received an email that says the payment is pending and I need to enter the tracking number. When I sign into my Paypal account I don't see this transaction anywhere. I think I'm being scammed becaust the email came from a gmail account on behalf of Paypal Update Team. How do I verify one way or the other?

The email is a spoof and yep, it's a scam.   There will always be a record of a transaction in your account Activity section.

Here's what to do with the email.

* Forward the entire email to:    spoof@paypal.com.
* Do not alter the subject line or forward the message as an attachment.
* Delete the suspicious email from your inbox.
* Never click on any links within the email or open any attachments.

Glad I stumbled across this before I sent the item I was selling.  I had gotten as far as paying for the shipping, which I canceled as I had a bad feeling.

What caught my eye was the email they wanted comfirmation sent to - it seemed odd to me that it wasn't a paypal address. It was payment@funds-intl.com.

Hopefully that information will help someone else down the line.
