Payment preferences

I have my PayPal balance set as my payment preference, but the last 2 transactions (purchases) I made were debited to my bank account.

Not what I wanted. Is this because Pay After Delivery was (mistakenly) activated? How do I avoid having my bank dinged in the future?

I want to use the balance. Always.
