PayPal will send you a email notification whenever you use PayPal to complete a purchase (no matter what the funding instrument is). Obviously if you don't use PayPal to complete a purchase then PayPal will not send you an email. Depending on how your Mastercard account is configured, you might also receive a confirmation from Mastercard as well (I have mine set up to email me about purchases over $100).
