How long does an unauthorized payment stay in Pending status?

I made an online payment that did not go through, yet it shows as pending in my PP account. The company does not have this transaction anywhere in their records, so they cannot authorize it or cancel it. How long will it stay in pending status before the funds are returned to me?

30 days but if it shows pending implies seller issue unconfirmed email. If not claimed returned to buyer. Clicking on actual pay generally shows cancel button.
