i was wondering if there was a recommended wait time for a payment to clear.  So a cancellation would not be possible ( Scammer worry)

Even if your payment cleared and you withdrew it to your bank account your buyer could still open a dispute and if they won that dispute you would be forced to refund them.

So you need to read up on seller protection so you can risk assess your transactions.
