For some reason, I am not given a choice between friends and family, or goods and services.

I tried calling paypal, they couldn't help.

Same issue. Useless customer support person escalated to supervisor who created a service ticket. Said they would have issue resolved within 72 hours meanwhile I have a friend I need to send some money too. Have only used "friends and family" once before - PayPal has made plenty of money on the other 200 transactions!

Just had another conversation with Customer Service - rep Matt. It had been 72 hours - The time I was told it would take to resolve this issue. No one had contacted me. Here's what he told me  - "Try using Venmo" and "It is a PayPal security issue of some sort, nothing we would have any control over". But wasn't able to tell me what that issue might be. He did say he would escalate the issue (again). that it may be an "internal problem" and that I would be contacted (again). I'm not holding my breath.

Well, I did at least get a response to my last message. here it is:
