Why was I charged a fee for receiving money when person used their PayPal balance to pay me? My preference on my link is PPFF so I would think there is no fee!

Hi @britty78,

I'm sorry to hear that there was an unexpected fee. It sounds like the payment was sent using the goods and services option. Even if you sent a link that requests a friends and family payment, the sender can select to send it as a goods and services payment by choosing to add Purchase Protection.

If the payment was a gift and was not meant to be in exchange for a good or service, you can refund the payment (all fees will be returned except for the fixed portion of $.30) and ask the sender to send it as a friends and family payment. If the payment was in exchange for something of value, goods and services is the option that should be selected, and fees would be appropriate to the payment.

I hope this helps!

Olivia
