Bought an item on a pay later option, transferred the funds to my paypal account, it clearly states that the money would be taken from my Paypal balance before taking from my bank, so what did you do?  you took it straight from my bank and made me overdrawn, well thanks a bunch Paypal!!!!paypal.JPG

How many days from the time you trasnferred from your bank until you make the purchase?

The money has been sat there waiting since the day I bought the item online, so the full 14 days, I transferred the money over so it wasn't left in my bank account

Regardless of what specific admins stated, I think a read on the forum that payment sources can vary according to some PayPal internal security models for PayPal to use the source with the least risk.  It may also depend on your linked credit card as a backup payment source.  I suppose it could vary according to your own history if you sold items and had previous claims about the products.  I suppose there are a lot of variables.

You could call PayPal customer service and talk to a specialist for more information and details.

Never had a problem with any payment, don't use credit cards, so only have my bank account registered against my account and bank card, both of which are the same bank account.  I just don't understand why, when the money was sat there, why they didn't use it, this is a separate bank account which I only use for purchases for my dog breeding account, so now I've gone over drawn, so had to quickly transfer the funds back to my bank account.

I even emailed Paypal to double check they would use the balance before taking from my bank and they never had the decency to reply

Then found the page where it said they use balance first

@Sharonlmartin

I understand that's what it shows.  I haven't looked at any policy details, but they generally will allow for exceptions for security reasons.  The only way to know would be to talk to someone in customer service and prod them for a more detailed answer; it would probably take some effort to reach a person who know the details and does more than just read from a script.

It may be that a credit card needs to be linked.

Yes I did, but the money was in my paypal account from the day I ordered the goods online, so don't really understand why they didn't take it from my balance
