PayPal processes transactions the same for the buyer regardless of the type of eBay sale. The type of payment that is completed is determined during the checkout process. PayPal does offer an instant transfer option when a bank account has a card listed on file as a backup funding source. This option will need to be selected at the time of checkout for the Buy It Now item on eBay.
IT appears to be an ebay glitch of automaically make the payment when an item is placed in the shopping cart, without taking the next step of confirming the purchase with member first.
