Juliet S.

Hi Marc. Hope you're fine and how can I help you today?

mgcosmetic
I would like to change my default paypament method as a buyer

mgcosmetic

I always have to change source to my credit card becuase the default source is always my bank account

Juliet S.

So meaning to say that when you pay for an item, you always your bank account, and now you want to use your credit card?

Juliet S.
Sorry, we have minor system delay.

mgcosmetic
yea. The default Paypal funding source is my Bank account. I have to change the funding source for every transaction as it does'nt remember my choice on further purchases

Juliet S.
So if I got you right, you pay for an item using PayPal but its the funding source that you want to upate, and you wanted to use your bank account, right?

mgcosmetic
I wanted to use my Credit Card ! my current default is Bank

Juliet S.

So meaning to say that when you want to pay for an item, you want to have the option to pay for the item directly using your Credit card, right?

mgcosmetic
....have you ever bought on ebay ?

mgcosmetic
what you make a paypal payment, you are offered to pay using a funding source from your account

mgcosmetic
this is that default funding source I want to change

Juliet S.
Yes, and I just to make sure that I get what you are trying to say.

mgcosmetic
it is currently my Bank Account by default, and I want to make my Credit card funding source by default

mgcosmetic
can't I be more clear ?

Juliet S.
Okay, I understand it now and sorry if I verify much if your concern.

Juliet S.
Alright, on this process, the best thing that you can do is to go to your PayPal account and there you can update your funding source from their system.

mgcosmetic
no I can't.  there is no option for that

Juliet S.
Or do you want me to give you the steps on how to do this?

mgcosmetic
I've checked it all

Juliet S.
Okay, hold on please.

mgcosmetic

mgcosmetic

mgcosmetic
This is what I do for EACH transaction. I WANT TO CHANGE THE DEFAULT FUNDING SOURCE SO THAT I DON'T HAVE TO DO THAT FOR EACH PURCHASE

mgcosmetic

Juliet S.
Okay, I got that.

mgcosmetic

Did mgcosmetic ever receive an accurate response to their question, or did  Paypal leave it with the idiotic  non-reply by this customer support person displayed in this post?  I would like to know the answer to the question or if there is not a way to change your default method of payment I would like to know if we just have to continue to use their time wasting method of changing the payment every time we buy something..

The system basically works in this manor.

Funds are first taken from your PayPal Account Balance.  If you have insufficient funds in your Account Balance, then your bank account is next.  If you don't have a bank account but have a credit card, the card will be used.  Unfortunately there's no built in options that would allow you to simply say, only use this funding source.  I believe the one exception is one of the PayPal products, I believe it's BML.   The problem with that is once you tell it to be the funding source, if you don't want to use it anymore, you have to call customer support to turn it off.

Thanks very much for your help.  Unless you are an employee of Paypal, I am totally unimpressed with their lack of concern for our questions and concerns.  Thanks again

I have a PayPal Smart Connect credit account and PayPal still goes after my checking account first.  Even though my preference has been changed to use the credit card first!  I am just going to use Bill Me Later moving forward.

Hi iMrk,

Thanks for your reply.  Paypal finally shared it with me after only six weeks or so.  Their customer service is always on top of it, aren't they?  Sorry you have not received a reply to your question since it is such a pertinent one to many of us.  I love Paypal for what it does, but we're all pretty much wasting our time trying to get any customer service asssistance.  Maybe they don't have any human beings as employees, only computers or something.  Best wishes, billyb02
