Can I file a dispute if the payment was sent through "Personal" option instead of "Purchase" ?

I sent a payment to a seller using my mobile app. I was not aware that it was sent through friends and family option instead of the goods and services. I tried to contact the seller but I haven't heard from him/her after the payment was sent and I haven't received the item yet. Now, I can't file a claim on paypal because it says its not a valid transaction (because the payment was not sent through the goods and services option). What should I do? Will I still be able to get my money? Please help me.

If it was an ebay transaction you could see if you can file a dispute through the ebay dispute process.

However if you sent it as a gift payment then you can't open a dispute...sorry.
