My credit card has expired?

Okay, for some reason when I was trying to buy something on steam, I get this credit card has expired bs, I have never had a credit card attached to steam..I bought a DLC like...4 days ago with no money in paypal..And it worked and went through..Took the money direct right away out of my linked bank account..And now I can't do it..What is going on?
