is this a scam e mail?

Hi - I just received an e mail asking me to 'confirm my credit card' via a code. Is this a genuine e mail from you or a scam?

Check sender email address.  Is it from PayPal.com?  Did you log on directly to PayPal to check your account for any alerts?

Thanks for the response. I've checked my PAy PAl and I do have a mssage on my account - but I don't have the card it's asking me to confirm!

So you never attempted to link a credit or debit card to your PayPal account?  

When you add a card, PayPal will send you an email telling you to check the account of the card you added for a test charge and a 4-digit code, to add to the card in your PayPal Wallet to "confirm the card".
