Paypal seems expensive to me am I missing some of the advantages

yes,it is expensive.

It is meant for hobby sellers who sell ocasionally,or folks downsizing or a place for dealers to clear unwanted unloved merchandise.

since sellers do not have the appropriate retail credential,risk is high for a payment processor.

if you intend to sell steadily,apply for a merchant account ,discount rate would be lower,transactionf ee would be lower,but there would be other fees which are higher or not required with Paypal,so check it out

Paypal fee would be lower ,it varies with volume,you can find out by going to your account and click fee .

there are sellers who do 6-7 figures,their fee is quite low
