hi, long story short, i would like to make money by selling my artwork. i linked my bank account to my paypal account. can someone pay me with this method? if someone sends me money, will the money transfer to my bank account? or is this not possible?

Linking a bank account is part of the account verification process. 

When someone sends you money or makes a purchase, the funds are deposited into your PayPal Account Balance - once you have the money in your account,  it's up to you as to what do with the money.  You can simply leave it there or withdraw the funds to your bank account.

thank you! after the money goes onto my account, am i able to spend it? or do i have to transfer the money to my bank account?

It's your option, you can leave the money in your Account Balance, use it for a purchase or withdraw it to your bank account.
