The downside of using PayPal to collect rent is that your tenant(s) must also have a PayPal account. If the tenant does have a PayPal account, they could simply use the send money feature and select Living Expense as the payment type. The tenant must ensure that funding source used is either their account balance and/or bank account. If they use a credit card as the funding source, they will end up paying a processing fee. As for your end, I don't believe you will be charged any fees as you are simply receiving money from another person.

This is a goods/services transaction, so the service seller (landlord) will incur a fee.

I have used Paypal to collect rent. I have a valid signed contract. After several months the tenant stoped paying AND they asked for refund over Paypal. So now I have a case on Paypal for Significantly Not as Described eventhough I have a valid rent contract, the rent moeny is blocked and it seems like I am going to loose money. This is a SCAM from buyers side and a joke from Paypal resolutin center. I have provided them with everything, email communication with tenant, signed rent contract, even the tenant used RENT as a description at the payment. Yet am I being asked from paypal to provide delivery papers. Hopeless.
If someone from Paypal interested, it is case number #PP-006-389-056-279.
