Someone asked me for my paypal address, where do I find it or is it just my email address?

BE VERY CAREFUL AND READ ALL OF THIS.

The email address you use with paypal identifies your paypal account and is all someone needs to pay you.

HOWEVER be very careful as lot of scam merchants about. >>>>>>>>>>>>>

1. A lot of scammers encourage you to accept a paypal payment and if you don't have an account ask you to open one.

2. Do not get scammed via spoof emails that look as if they are from paypal.

3. Never send anything unless the funds are showing in your paypal account balance, even if you are a new seller and subject to the new seller hold the funds would still show in your balance but have pending by them.

4. Do NOT send anything to Nigeria or similar.

5. Do not be fooled by you so called buyer and "paypal" telling you that you either have to >>>

a. Send the item and provide a tracking number BEFORE the funds show in your balance.

b. You have to pay the buyers shipping agent via western union or moneygram before his payment that is supposed to include these costs are credited to you.

6. Remember sellers send invoices and not buyers so if you get an invoice "marked as gift / paid" and saying it won't show in your balance for 24 hours or that your payment can't be the subject of a chargeback.....its a scam.

If in doubt come here and ask.

@khyla  Nobody needs your PayPal address to purchase from you.  If this occurred in eBay add that ID to your Blocked List ... that can be found:

1. Go to your Mr eBay page and click the Account tab

2. Then slcik Site Preferences

3. Then click Buyer requirements

4. Down at the bottom, one of the last items and at the end of the sentence on the right is a blue lettered link to your blocked list, click that

5. A little window will come up, type the Buyer's ID in there exactly the way it appears, then check the little box to apply to all listings and Save settings and exit.

She did not say it was ebay ???

Also for someone to pay her they do need her email address OR she can send a money request to their email address.

Could be a legit buyer so why block them?

I am sure you are familiar with the spoof messages that appear to be from PP, so my reply was geared more towards an eBay transaction which might have one of those, thus the question on eBay and suggestion to block.   Granted, maybe I am being a little too suspicious but I am all about people NOT getting scammed and yes, you could be right, it could be a legit Buyer but typically Buyers simply purchase without needing any specific info from the Seller, that is how all our 1000 plus sales have gone, payment simply happens.

Which is why I told her what info to give the buyer to be paid and then followed it up with a list of the scams to watch out for  !!

If they are selling on Facebook and similar sites then they have to provide an email address to be paid or send a money request.

@kernowlass  Excellent, it was a good list ... mine was specific to a possible eBay transaction "if" it was one and I added some basic instructions on blocking Buyers, the OP seemed like they may be new to Selling if that is what this is about.  Sadly at times, more info on the original post helps responders zero in on a more specifc answers they provide.

A simple question asked and it's being assumed to be about eBay and that it relates to a spoofed email received by the poster, where is the link to those assumptions.

It was a simple question about payment reference.  Answer:  the sender's PayPal email addres.

Caution is in order and was well explained by @kernowlass

@DPCreations, @kernowlass  I appreciate both of your posts directed to me.  Hopefully the OP will be able to find this thread and reply with a thanks, accepted solution, more questions or perhaps some more detail.

Thank you for your answer but someone was sending me some money for payment. I didn't put that information in the question, sorry.
