How to Enable Guest Checkout

Hello,

I have a Standard Business PayPal Account located in US, linked with bank account and verified email address. The account status is: Verified. I also have "PayPal Account Optional" option enabled. Guest checkouts are not appearing, instead of that PayPal forces the users to create a PayPal account when they want to check out.

What do I need to do to enable Guest Checkouts?

Per your post, sounds like everything is setup OK.  Assuming you are not using Express Checkout, you should have the option.  Suggest providing a link so others can see what is going on.  Also ensure that before you test, you delete your web browser's cookies, temp files and history, then close the browser, reopen and retry.

Below are tips for the credit card option as it may also help others:

Go to your Account Profile.

Select: My Selling Tools

Under: Selling Online

Locate: Website Preferences

Click on: Update

Locate: PayPal Account Optional

Click:  On

Click: Save

When the "account optional" feature is turned on, customers don't need a

PayPal account. They use an alternate checkout and have the option to sign up

for a PayPal account afterward. Customers with PayPal accounts still log in to

their PayPal accounts to check out.

this feature is available for Buy Now buttons, Donations, shopping carts and invoices.

It is not availabe if you are using Express Checkout.

Please note that if both the "auto return" and "account optional" features

are turned on, customers who don't log in to PayPal can choose to go back to

your website after checkout, but are not returned automatically.

Hello snowshoe,

Thank you for your efforts to help me about the issue. My account settings are already exactly set as your provided tips, plus it's a verified Business account with no limits, but no luck. It's becoming very frustrating that I still can't enable guest pay.

Here's a sample link containing a Buy Now sample button demonstrating the issue: http://204.93.163.15/~teshandb/rubin/test.html

Thanks for the link.   It works and you do have the option displayed on the screen:

Don’t have a PayPal account?

Pay as a guest now, sign up for PayPal later

If you're still not seeing it I'm guessing it's a browser cookie issue.

Right above the guest payment option it says:

Have a PayPal Acccount?

Login to your account and pay.

Note: PayPal wants you to see the PayPal Account login first, the guest checkout sometimes needs to be expanded by clicking on it.

Do you have a US PayPal Account?

If yes, your account must be either Premier or Business, Personal accounts do not have the credit card option.

If no, what country?

Ihave the same issue: guest checkout stopped to work. I could not find option Paypal account optional in my profile. My account is non US business account, but according to posts my country is in the list of countries where paypal account optional should work...

Make sure you have either a Premier or Business Account.  If the option is not available in your Account Profile, then that feature is not availabe to your country.
